jobs in a medieval castle

Jobs varied by allot some could barely feed their family and others could feed them for the week for just one days work. First their is jobs like a spotter who sat at the highest tower of the castle and could see miles away and looked for attackers and would ring a bell if he saw any. The other jobs included a black smith who would make swords and armor for the army once they go to war so that they can fight back any attackers. There are many different kinds of crafters one is a Quintelir and they were the people who made crossbows for the army and were paid the most
There were many different jobs in the army of the castle you could be an archer an foot solider a miner who would dig a hole underneath the castle so people could attack the inside of the castle. the worst job would probably be a ladder climber they would use a ladder to climb usually the most risky people would do it because it was very dangerous because the solders above could drop things on you.

Entertainment in The Medieval Ages

Games and activities in the middle ages were some what like ours and some what not. The games varied from many different types like involving animals and toys. In the ones involving animals it involves things that would be consider cruel now a days where a hunting dog would try to bite a bear held by a bear carer and if the bear yelped then it wold be a good hunting dog. The ones involving toys are games like marbles where a kid will flick marbles and try to other marbles and knock them out of the circle and guards would play games that were like card games now a days but the stakes could involve losing money or losing your suit of army.
The children of the middle ages enjoyed games like where you had a metal circle wheel that could spin around while you had little stick to put in the middle of the circle and it will push the circle a bit and if you get good at doing it than you could make it jump and catch it and do tricks with it. A sport like game in the medieval ages was jousting and after warfare they would have a huge jousting game where knights would carry long lances and ride horses at each other very quickly and hit each other the one still on their horses won.

Torture and Dugeons in Medieval Time

In medieval times there were things like our prisons now a days called dungeons they were usually at the bottom of the castle and they sometimes had windows and sometimes not. There even was a dungeon underneath the drawbridge which there was a random empty pit at the bottom of the pit so to use the space they used it as a prison cell and in the drain which was no longer used was sometimes someone who was a big problem to the people because they would be put there forgotten about. Some people after being executed that wasn't enough because they then had the blacksmith make a middle cage for their body to hang in outside the castle wall so that other people will be scared to follow his actions.
In medieval ages torture was a way of discipline to criminals some were better than other and some would bring death to the person being torture. The first one was something criminals and school children where they would put your fingers in a notch that wouldn't let them out while people could walk by and laugh at you and sometimes even throw fruit at you. The second torture technique they used was pressing where a person was tied under allot of weight and every day a torturer added more weight to the press every day till the sentence was over or they die because the lungs couldn't open many prisoners under yhis punish meant would ask people to jump on the press to kill them faster.

Fixing The Castle After Warfare

After the war. After all the fighting and cleaning up is done they must rebuild the city by first taking the moat around the castle and draining it and then refilling it and separating the fish inside the moat because the kings were very picky about which moat special fish were in. After refilling the moat they would cut down all the trees around the moat to keep the area safe because attackers could swim across and cut them down so that enemy battering rams could go across.then they would fix all the holes in the wall by filling them with limestone blocks and concrete.
Inside the castle walls. Inside the walls of the castle walls many repairs needed to be finished like rebuilding the wooden walls of the shop by first place daub (from last post) on the wall to hold the wood on the wall then since the building would probably be a house they would use dried hay which could light fire very quickly as the roof. For special buildings they would build them out of stone and for the roof they wood use real shingles made out of wood they wood make the shingle by nailing to gether a whole bunch of treebarks. The concrete as made out of a whole bunch of rocks pushed together then held together with alot of mortar.
